Connecting with Horses at the Common Ground Country Fair
It was a pleasure to meet Chris Lombard in person at the Common Ground Country Fair on September 23, 2023 in Unity.
His first demonstration, titled Connecting with Horses, focused on the relationship between humans and horses. Chris was kind enough to invite me into the ring so I could photograph his work with Rocky up close. It was an incredible opportunity to witness their partnership firsthand.
Throughout the demonstration, Chris shared stories about life, love, and the powerful bond that can exist between humans and horses. His approach shows that horsemanship is about much more than riding. It is about trust, patience, and understanding.
Watching him work with Rocky made that connection clear. Much of their communication happened through subtle body language and quiet cues. The respect between horse and handler was easy to see.
Chris’s ability to express love and respect for these remarkable animals was truly inspiring. Capturing that connection through photography made the experience even more memorable.
